Haier Electrical Appliances (Thailand) Co. Ltd.

2002

HAIER Thailand was initially established in 2002. In this year, Haier initiated a joint venture with Distar Electric corporation, a domestic electrical appliances manufacturer,  in order to enter Thailand market. The new strategic alliance company was named as “Haier Electrical Appliances (Thailand) Co. Ltd.” (HAT) which was mainly responsible for trading and distributing Haier products as Color TV, refrigerator etc. Simultaneously, Haier imported air conditioner parts to manufacture into finished goods at Distar Factory. Those air conditioners from Thailand assembly line were put on market and welcome by Thai consumers.

June 2007

Haier group has reached an agreement to take over Sanyo Universal Electric Public Company Limited, Japanese’s leading maker of refrigerator. Under this collaboration,   Sanyo Universal Electric has sold a major stake in its refrigerator factory in Prachin Buri's Kabin Buri district to the Haier Group. After acquisition, Haier obtained a stake of about 90% in this factory, followed by the transfer of complete management control to Haier in April 2007.

This newly acquired factory was named as “Haier Electric (Thailand) Public Company Limited” (HTC) which produces all commercial products, such as refrigerators, freezers, washing machines etc. At present, HTC has production capacity of about 2.4 million refrigerators and 0.2 million washing machines a year, making HTC become the largest refrigerator plant in Southeast Asia region. Products manufactured at this plant are sold domestically and exported to various markets such as Southeast Asia countries, Australia and New Zealand.  Mr.Qu Zhilong acts as the managing Director of Haier Electric (Thailand) Public Company Limited.

May 2007

Distar Electric Corporation sold its shares in Haier Electrical Appliances (Thailand) Co. Ltd. (HAT) to Haier group in China, making HAT totally belongs to Haier group as one of Haier worldwide subsidiary firm since 1 May 2007 onwards. In the new age

of HAT,  it  focuses on three main business functions; domestic and export sales, initiating advertising and promotional campaigns and product distribution with  Mr.Thaweesak Kriengkraikiat acts as the managing Director.

May 2007 - Present

Haier has introduced various kinds of innovative product that understand both household and business consumer needs including refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, air conditioners, color TV and LCD TV etc. From May 2007, Haier continuously invest in brand building, marketing campaign and product development. In August 2007, the first Haier refrigerator TV commercials were launched and the first dealers convention was organized.  At the end of year 2007, Market share of haier refrigerator in Thailand market reached 7%.
